Should I return it and get a cheap-o > external off the net or will this internal one work? Check it out at http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html. He has an index with almost all of the modems. I looked an SmartLink has a couple that work. The was at least one that is a LinModem. LinModems are WinModems that there are Linux drivers available for. They are still winmodems for FreeBSD. > > If not then what would be a safe choice for a cheap external modem that is > known to work with FreeBSD. The first page as a printable page for local stores in his "Rough Guide". It tells the modems not to buy and others that work. Almost all of the externals work. They have an advantage of being able to toggle power with out toggling the computer. The voice modems add a cost incremental that I don't have any use for.
