scott-

after additional trials, i've found that my server takes on average 10-15 minutes to boot with 2 mylex extremeraid controllers attached. 1 controller has 1 disk array on it, the other has 2. itz not unbearably long to wait i guess but i just don't understand why it should take several minutes when the same controllers and disks initialize with the driver under linux in around 30 seconds.

while labeling the disks i've seen the following messages:

(da5:mly1:4:1:0): SYNCHRONIZE CACHE. CDB: 35 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
(da5:mly1:4:1:0): error code 0
(da4:mly1:4:0:0): SYNCHRONIZE CACHE. CDB: 35 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
(da4:mly1:4:0:0): error code 0
(da5:mly1:4:1:0): SYNCHRONIZE CACHE. CDB: 35 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
(da5:mly1:4:1:0): error code 0

could this be due to disk arrays that aren't yet initialized? is it possible to run background initialization with this driver while the operating system is running? again... i'm running fbsd 4.7 release on x86.
