Your problem lies elsewhere and you > didn't even start systematically investigating it. Newb hacker tip number one: try CTRL-ALT-F1 when you get the technicolor screen. If your system isn't hosed then you'll get the first tty. The only time I can think of where /var/log/Xorg.0.log wouldn't be populated with something useful is if the kernel module livelocks talking to the card and/or fsck takes out the file on the next reboot because it was in use. And yes Michal is right, IIRC. 64-bit drivers didn't exist on that vers= ion. Just try this file and get back to us please with something more useful than "it doesn't work". Otherwise we can't help you . -Garrett --20cf300514b0b6081c04ad61aafa Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="xorg.conf" Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="xorg.conf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 X-Attachment-Id: f_gst2tuvo0 U2VjdGlvbiAiU2VydmVyTGF5b3V0IgogICAgSWRlbnRpZmllciAgICAgIkxheW91dDAiCiAgICBT Y3JlZW4gICAgICAwICAiU2NyZWVuMCIgMCAwCiAgICBJbnB1dERldmljZSAgICAiTW91c2UwIiAi Q29yZVBvaW50ZXIiCiAgICBJbnB1dERldmljZSAgICAiS2V5Ym9hcmQwIiAiQ29yZUtleWJvYXJk IgojICAgIE9wdGlvbiAgICAgICAgICJYaW5lcmFtYSIgIjAiCkVuZFNlY3Rpb24KClNlY3Rpb24g IkZpbGVzIgogICAgTW9kdWxlUGF0aCAgICAgICIvdXNyL2xvY2FsL2xpYi94b3JnL21vZHVsZXMi CiAgICBGb250UGF0aCAgICAgICAgIi91c3IvbG9jYWwvbGliL1gxMS9mb250cy9taXNjLyIKICAg IEZvbnRQYXRoICAgICAgICAiL3Vzci9sb2NhbC9saWIvWDExL2ZvbnRzL1RURi8iCiAgICBGb250 UGF0aCAgICAgICAgIi91c3IvbG9jYWwvbGliL1gxMS9mb250cy9PVEYiCiAgICBGb250UGF0aCAg ICAgICAgIi91c3IvbG9jYWwvbGliL1gxMS9mb250cy9UeXBlMS8iCiAgICBGb250UGF0aCAgICAg ICAgIi91c3IvbG9jYWwvbGliL1gxMS9mb250cy8xMDBkcGkvIgogICAgRm9udFBhdGggICAgICAg ICIvdXNyL2xvY2FsL2xpYi9YMTEvZm9udHMvNzVkcGkvIgpFbmRTZWN0aW9uCgpTZWN0aW9uICJN b2R1bGUiCiAgICBMb2FkICAgICAgICAgICAiZXh0bW9kIgogICAgTG9hZCAgICAgICAgICAgImRi ZSIKIyAgICBMb2FkICAgICAgICAgICAiZ2x4IgogICAgTG9hZCAgICAgICAgICAgImRyaSIKICAg IExvYWQgICAgICAgICAgICJkcmkyIgpFbmRTZWN0aW9uCgpTZWN0aW9uICJJbnB1dERldmljZSIK ICAgIElkZW50aWZpZXIgICAgICJLZXlib2FyZDAiCiAgICBEcml2ZXIgICAgICAgICAia2JkIgpF bmRTZWN0aW9uCgpTZWN0aW9uICJJbnB1dERldmljZSIKICAgIElkZW50aWZpZXIgICAgICJNb3Vz ZTAiCiAgICBEcml2ZXIgICAgICAgICAibW91c2UiCiAgICBPcHRpb24gICAgICAgICAiUHJvdG9j b2wiICJhdXRvIgogICAgT3B0aW9uICAgICAgICAgIkRldmljZSIgIi9kZXYvc3lzbW91c2UiCkVu ZFNlY3Rpb24KClNlY3Rpb24gIk1vbml0b3IiCiAgICBJZGVudGlmaWVyICAgICAiTW9uaXRvcjAi CiAgICBWZW5kb3JOYW1lICAgICAiTXlWZW5kb3IiCiAgICBNb2RlbE5hbWUgICAgICAiTXlNb25p dG9yIgpFbmRTZWN0aW9uCgpTZWN0aW9uICJEZXZpY2UiCgogICAgSWRlbnRpZmllciAgICAgIkNh cmQwIgogICAgRHJpdmVyICAgICAgICAgInZlc2EiCiAgICBWZW5kb3JOYW1lICAgICAiTXlWZW5k b3IiCiAgICBCb2FyZE5hbWUgICAgICAiTXlDYXJkIgpFbmRTZWN0aW9uCgpTZWN0aW9uICJTY3Jl ZW4iCiAgICBJZGVudGlmaWVyICAgICAiU2NyZWVuMCIKICAgIERldmljZSAgICAgICAgICJEZXZp Y2UwIgogICAgTW9uaXRvciAgICAgICAgIk1vbml0b3IwIgogICAgRGVmYXVsdERlcHRoICAgIDI0 CiAgICBTdWJTZWN0aW9uICAgICAiRGlzcGxheSIKICAgICAgICBEZXB0aCAgICAgICAyNAogICAg RW5kU3ViU2VjdGlvbgpFbmRTZWN0aW9uCgo= --20cf300514b0b6081c04ad61aafa--
