Subject:   managing c++ library upgrades

I'm having the fun of dealing with old ports compiled with my old
g++ meshing badly with ports compiled with my new g++.

Would it make sense to record the compiler used to compile C++ based
ports so that when the system compiler is upgraded all C++ ports
can be recompiled?
