I've cvsupped to 4.0-stable, rebuild and not seen the problem since. (and yes, I have run bonnie) I like my Asus. I've always used Abit before this. The Asus is just more complete. A few jumper caps and all the cabling you need. It comes with four USB ports. Too bad I don't have any USB hardware yet.
