I picked one of the university mirror's over Thanskgiving and downloaded the iso in 2+ hours but needed 8 or more from a busy site. I was seeing 20KB/s more or less (frequently less) from ftp.freebsd.org and was seeing around 90KB/s from Purdue. I think all of the students had gone home for Thanksgiving. BTW, I thought 40 hours was terrible on a 56kb modem.
