  This is a partial close on PR bin/1387 for the RELENG2_2 branch.
  Skip invalid lines in /etc/group rather than bailing out and
  losing all remaining groups in the file after the error.
  syslog message at LOG_ALERT issued (this may get a little
  verbose, unfortunately, but I can't see any way of avoiding
