I actually have /usr/sbin in my path so I can run it no matter what 
directory I happen to be in.  I also run it from a menu under whichever 
window manager I happen to running at the time for X.  The command I use 
for this is 

	xterm -e ppp &

which just starts ppp in a new window for me.  I have also used the 
demand dial feature of ppp at times, in fact I set up a FreeBSD box for a 
local business to connect their Windows LAN to their ISP and run POP mail 
clients to retrieve their mail in this way (it was a very nice solution for 
them).

don't forget the files are .ppp.conf etc. not ppp.conf etc.
