Since MailScanner, I've notic freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORGed system idle went down to as low as 2%. So I disabled it, and now it seems to go down only to 92% or so. But it still locks up 3 or so times a day. And this new server has never had problem before. I left cover open past week or so, and the CPU fan is the one came with CPU from the factory. When I touch the heatsink, it doesn't seem to be hot. I'm wondering if hard drive would cause it to lock up? It's one of those new WesternDigital 80GB IDE with 8MB buffer. I believe normal IDE's have only 2MB buffer. -----Original Message----- From: Javi Lavandeira [mailto:ag0ny@ag0ny.com] Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 8:36 AM To: song@isot.com Subject: Re: Diagnosing System Lockups Did the server load increase considerably after installing MailScanner? If so, the problem could be a badly cooled CPU...
