FYI, a final patch has been merged to GDB master and will appear in 8.0
release.  The final patch is a bit different from the one in the port, but =
is
functionally identical.  I don't think we need to rework the patch in the
current port, but we can drop it when we import 8.0.

The GDB hangs were due to issues in the kernel that Eric Badger has thankfu=
lly
fixed.
