AF_UNIX was deprecated in 4.4BSD (or maybe 4.3-net/2) due to issues with the Unix trademark. However, POSIX standardized it anyway (much later), and since POSIX standardization is now handled by the organization that owns the Unix trademark this is probably no longer an issue. -GAWollman
