The intent being to portupgrade packages as needed. I have had a little more luck doing this, as e.g. fetchmail compiled now when it would not before. The same applies to gettext, with which I seem also to have had trouble. I thought I would try one more portupgrade before beddy-bye. I chose Mozilla, and I ran into trouble. The error message is not one I could find on google, nor in the archives. Below are included the *only* commands I have entered on this *fresh* install, plus the output logs from the mozilla portupgrade attempt: cd /usr/ports/devel/cvsup make make install vi (edit portsup-file) cd /usr/ports/sysutils/portupgrade make make install cd /usr/ports/devel/gettext make make install cd /usr/ports/mail/fetchmail make make install cd /usr/ports/mail/mutt make make install cd /usr/ports/shells/bash2 make make install cd /usr/ports/www/mozilla make > moz_err.txt ===> Extracting for mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 >> Checksum OK for mozilla-source-0.9.9.tar.bz2. >> Checksum OK for libart_lgpl-0.9.9.tar.bz2. ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on executable: zip - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on executable: freetype-config - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on executable: gmake - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on shared library: ORBit.2 - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on shared library: jpeg.9 - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on shared library: png.5 - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on shared library: mng.1 - found ===> mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 depends on shared library: freetype.9 - not found ===> Verifying install for freetype.9 in /usr/ports/print/freetype2 ===> Returning to build of mozilla-0.9.9_3,1 Error: shared library "freetype.9" does not exist *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/www/mozilla. What exactly is freetype.9? Why might it not be where it is supposed to be? Why doesn't fbsd go and get it on its own? With what is freetype.9 shared? What should I do to repair the problem? Not CVS (unless you have the full CVS repo--but then you would still have to use CVSup to update your local CVS repo). After doing this you'll want to do /usr/local/sbin/portsdb -Uu as well (portsdb comes with portupgrade). -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- = |John Reynolds Sr. Component Design Engineer - ICG/EID/Si Engineering | |Intel Corporation MS: CH6-210 Phone: 480-554-9092 pgr: 602-868-6512 | |jreynold@sedona.ch.intel.com http://www-aec.ch.intel.com/~jreynold/ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- = To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
