No difference.  I've also tried the latest 7-current snapshot with
the same behaviour.

By disabling ACPI, I have managed to install 6.2/amd64 and it seems to
run.  I thought I'd tried this combination before.

I might try -current with the latest ACPI fixes and see if there's
any difference.
