Only one machine can transmit or receive at a time on one 'segment' (as it appears to be only 1 piece of wire per-se). If you've got a lot of other machines on that 'segment' (read: Hub) - and they're all fighting to send / receive data, 600k a second is pretty good going... If you really want to test it, either connect your FreeBSD machine to another machine via a cross-over cable (not recomended) - or disconnect _all_ the other machines except the 2 your using the test from the hub (or preferably find another hub and just plug the FreeBSD machine + the other machines your using for the test into it! :-) Here I'm lucky to get 200k/sec to some of our machines because of local congestion etc. -Kp To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
