On my -current  I get some weirdness with latest xorg, latest hal...
1) Xorg -configure fails

2) I get:
a) (EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed
if I set  AutoAddDevices to false;
b) wrong keyboard
if I set AutoAddDevices to true

3) logout (from any wm) freezes the system (power button still works)

I start X through xinit

What I'm wrong?
