It might be better to have samba use pam and setup a pam module to use kerberos. In any case, both these aproaches require that you use plain text passwords on all win comps with requires a registry change to do so on every computers. And it's less secure. If your trying to set samba up like a ADS with Kerberos, that might be possible, but I've never done it and requires Win2k or WinXP clients to work. >=20 > uname -a > FreeBSD freebsd53.localdomain 5.3-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE #0: Fri Nov= 5 04:19:18 UTC 2004 > root@harlow.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 >=20 > make >makesmb.log > =3D=3D=3D> Building for samba-3.0.14a,1 > Using FLAGS =3D -O -pipe -I/usr/local/include -Iinclude -I/usr/ports/ne= t/samba3/work/samba-3.0.14a/source/include -I/usr/ports/net/samba3/work/sam= ba-3.0.14a/source/ubiqx -I/usr/ports/net/samba3/work/samba-3.0.14a/source/s= mbwrapper -I. -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/ports/net/s= amba3/work/samba-3.0.14a/source =20 > LIBS =3D -lcrypt -liconv > LDSHFLAGS =3D -shared -L/usr/local/lib -Wl,-R/usr/local/lib -L/usr= /local/lib -L/usr/local/lib > LDFLAGS =3D -L/usr/local/lib -Wl,-R/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib = -L/usr/local/lib > Linking bin/smbd > *** Error code 1 >=20 > Stop in /usr/ports/net/samba3/work/samba-3.0.14a/source. > *** Error code 1 >=20 > Stop in /usr/ports/net/samba3. >=20 >=20 > And error (not logging.. agrh) > ... > Linking /bin/smbd > ...skip... > libads/kerberos_keytab.o(.text+0x7b4): In function `ads_keytab_add_entry': > libads/kerberos_keytab.c:169: undefined reference to `krb5_kt_compare' > /user/lib/libgssapi.so: undefined reference to `krb5_rd_cred2' > /user/lib/libgssapi.so: undefined reference to `krb5_crypto_destroy' > .....
