than
hardlinks, because virtually every package uses symlinks.

So this is how my layout looks like:
/usr is on UFS2
/usr/local is a symlink to a ZFS filesystem
/var is on ZFS mounted directly

portsworkdir is configured to be in /var/tmp/portsworkdir
