If you actually have something in mind (ie, a patch that fixes a
security issue) then you should send it to re@FreeBSD.org ASAP.

ISC DHCP will not be upgraded this late in the game. RC3 had
problems with sysinstall related to DHCP, but those have just been
fixed (see my -qa post).

If you have the hardware and time to come up with some numbers I'm
sure that a number of people would assist you in this endeavor.

The ports and packages teams have been working on this for about a
month now. The final package set has been finished at this point.

You have 15 more days to wait, but you can pre-order it from Amazon.

On that note, Analise Anderson just wrote an excellent book for new
FreeBSD users and it is available from the Daemonnews Mall. The 2nd
Edition FreeBSD Handbook will be available in printed form in about 2
months, and Ted M. will have a FreeBSD book out sometime later this
year.

Sure, there are 2,701 unresolved issues in our PR (problem report)
database. We've actually been pretty good lately about closing them
faster than new ones come in so maybe you can help us get that number
down to below 2,000?

http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr-summary.cgi

These range from suggestions, documentation updates, and new ports, to
really hairy kernel bugs. With so many to choose from its easy to
find something that will help the project and help you learn something
in the process. You can help resolve many of these issues by posting
a followup on the web form with your analysis of the PR. ie,

"Good suggestion, here is a patch that adds this"

or

"We already have that functionality, this PR can be closed"

etc..

I think we're extremely open about such things. ;)
