I'm trying to set one of them as a printer server, using a HP LaserJet 3100. Quite simple. :) I've read the handbook instructions about setting up a printer on a FreeBSD printer and it just don't work. I've tried everything... tried setting lptcontrol -e, -i, -p... tried using apsfilter, cat > /dev/lpt0, cat >/dev/ppbus0.... Tried messing with the BIOS settings... Then I tried to plug the printer on the other machine (another FreeBSD-4.2-STABLE). Well... no luck at all. I've read something about some printers that depend on the Windows GDI to work, but this same printer is supported on Linux! I don't like Linux, please, help me! >How-To-Repeat: Get a LaserJet 3100 Printer and any (I think) FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE system. Just try anything you want to make it print. It *won't* work. >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
