Have you contacted http://www.overlandstorage.com? They list this product as 'discontinued', complete with the 'SnapOS' that it runs. But they might be able to help you. > I believe the snap uses UFS=20 A lot of UNIX systems use UFS, not just FreeBSD! Log into the server with telnet of ssh. Check that it runs FreeBSD by executing the command 'uname -a'. If so, run 'man fsck_ufs' and read the manual page! (If the manual pages were not installed, you can read them on the FreeBSD site instead). Otherwise read the 'fsck' manual page for the OS in question. Run fsck_ufs on the filesystem in question. Orphaned files and directories will be placed in a directory named 'lost+found'. And start making backups!
