I tried cleaning everything out of /var/db/freebsd-update, but they= didn't solve it. There's plenty of disk space in /var as well. >=20 > Does anyone know what is causing those errors and how to resolve it? W= here does freebsd-update get the .gz files it could be looking for? >=20 The .gz files being referenced are the files downloaded in the previous step 'Fetching 9604 files... ' step IIRC. freebsd-update is just a shell script. The error you're seeing looks very much like an undefined variable. You can try and debug exactly which variable is not being set properly by: sh -x freebsd-update upgrade -r 11.2-RELEASE but be warned: there will be a lot of output.
