This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPartTM-000-cc0b08d7-fde5-11d5-a940-00b0d0d06be8 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit We are running a very heavy memory intensive application under linux and intel plateform. The RAM is 4G and the swap is 10G. The process gives an error of being out of memory and crashes. The top shows that the process takes about 2G of physical ram and then terminates. We are planning to run the same application on FreeBSD-4.4 Release with linux emulation, but I was not sure how much ram freeBSD can allocate per process. I have a few doubts and I would like to have expert opinion on those 1. How much physical RAM is supported by freeBSD 4.4 R (This should be a limitation of the processor and the motherboard, am I right?) 2. How much virtual memory is supported? ( should be in tera bytes?) 3. How much memory can be allocated per process? Any help will be highly appriciated.
