Make sure you're on 2.1.5, or if you're installing 2.1.0, make sure you use the "atapi.flp" boot floppy image. 2. Make sure the controller is properly configured in UserConfig (boot -c) 3. Try shifting the drive between the IDE channels, and master/slave positions. It is possible it's not supported. Some IDE CDROMs refuse to work, and the Gateway2000 may be a repackaged one of these.
