In this case, Western Digital provides a bootable diagnostic tool: * Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD) http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp?swid=30 Burn the ISO to a CD and boot up the system with the CD. Run the diagnostics. It's best to use the tool provided by the manufacturer of the drive you have. UltimateBootCD includes most popular drive tools.
