Speed was misdetected ....
> de0 is connected to a 100baseTX hub, ep0 is connected to a 10baseT hub,

I suggest forcing the link speed using the `media' argument to ifconfig.
The de driver and cards get very, very angry if you pull their cable out,
and sometimes will misdetect the link speed. A command like
ifconfig de1 inet x.y.z.q netmask a.b.c.d media 10BaseT/UTP
should do it, assuming the NetSpeed is a 10mbit device.
