Please try downloading libarchive-2.5.4b from http://people.freebsd.org/~kientzle/ and let me know if that fixes this problem. I'm working through a few remaining minor issues, then plan to update -CURRENT. The locale patches in particular are fairly extensive; I hope to MFC the whole package to 7-STABLE within the next month or so.
