Btw, the numeric uid/gid patch is now in head and I plan on MFC'ing it to stable/9 to-day, so you might just want to wait a day or and then checkout a fresh source tree. (I know you aren't an svn fan, but I think you mentioned you know how to do a checkout.) And then you can apply Kostik's patch. Sounds like the problem is fixed in head.
