Each new version requires a complete testing and then Sun giving it's approval. I just checked the freebsdfoundation.org site and the version that is available as a binary download from there is 1.3.1. It also says it has been 'certified and tested' to run on FreeBSD 4.8. But it also notes that it does NOT work on 5.x 'due to a binary compatibility issue' but that they are working on it. > > > > Bill Vermillion wrote: > > >After replacing Phil Helms with a small shell script on > >Mon, Aug 22, 2005 at 08:52 , the following appeared on stdout: > > > > > >>I assume there's some sort of license that allows Linux distros to > >>include Java in compiled form.
