If I remember correctly someone has said on the mailing lists that
FreeBSD SMP does _not_ use the HLT instruction.

I agree with the argument that a SMP box should be built with good
enough cooling not to have any problem with this, but on the other
hand I wouldn't mind if my dual ppro box warmed the room its in
(my kitchen) a bit less...
