Don't get me wrong, I was talking more about die-hard emulation nuts (of which I am one, although hampered by my innate stinginess when it comes to buying decent 3d accelerators). Q3 on Linux is possibly a special case, since John McCormack has explicitly stated that he wrote Q3 on Linux mainly to embarass MicroSoft into sorting out a decent network stack. Personally I'll stick with VICE and http://www.lemon64.com. Lazer Squad may not have the framerate, but any game that I'm still playing after 12 years (longer than I've been smoking) scores quite highly on the addiction scale :) > Of course that with those special Nvidia kernel modules/glx modules in > place on a GeForce2 MX card. /me ducks for cover in anticipation on another NVidia flamewar/DOS. > > There are hardly any games released for Linux, let alone *BSD. > > Running stuff through WINE often works, but it'll never be as > > fast as Doze code running on Doze. > > What's wrong with keeping a Windows partition around for playing games? > > (Not trying to knock the spirit of 'I wonder if I can do this?', > > just trying to be practical.) -- Rasputin :: Jack of All Trades - Master of Nuns :: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
