Subject:   Alphabox hangs on startup

I was playing with my box last night and I hosed it on startup.  I think the
problem occurs when my local packages init (/usr/local/etc/rc.d/).  How can
I rememdy this, should I boot up in single user mode?  How can I boot into
single user mode?
