Run, do not walk, to http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Xming and get Xming, the
port of X11 to Microsoft Windows under the MinGW environment. It comes
without the hassles of Cygwin/X, and couples well with X11 forwarding in
SSH (ssh -X hostname xclient).
