The updated wd driver was planned to be committed to -stable, but I am not sure whether this has been done already. I have a driver which works with 2.2.6-RELEASE and has the necessary LBA stuff included. This updated driver seems to work (it does for me, and a few other people received the patches and did not report any problems).
