Hi, I upgraded my laptop last weekend, now with acpi enabled the system hangs, without I can boot. 5.3-Production Release worked fine with ACPI. Though I DID see this: Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: acpi0: <PTLTD RSDT> on motherboard Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: ACPI-1303: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIRA._STA] (Node 0xc14be080), AE _AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: ACPI-0239: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.ISA_.SIRA._STA] (Node 0xc14be080), AE _AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: acpi0: Power Button (fixed) Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: acpi_ec0: <Embedded Controller: GPE 0x28> port 0x66,0x62 on acpi0 Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: Timecounter "ACPI-fast" frequency 3579545 Hz quality 1000 Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: acpi_timer0: <24-bit timer at 3.579545MHz> port 0x1008-0x100b on acpi0 Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: cpu0: <ACPI CPU (3 Cx states)> on acpi0 Nov 19 22:23:31 klaptopje kernel: acpi_tz0: <Thermal Zone> on acpi0 Now, with 5.3-Stable it hangs with ACPI. I posted 3 boot logs at: http://www.xs4all.nl/~sandersm/ boot-vhalt is a verbose log till the system halts boothalt is a normal log till the system halts boot is a normal when I boot without acpi. Only this way the system is usable. I also added: acpidump -t -d > klaptopje.asl hint.apic.0.disabled="1" did not help, still hangs the system. I can not get any more info, ctrl+alt+esc does not respond. uname -a FreeBSD klaptopje.lan 5.3-STABLE FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE #0: Sat Nov 20 03:53:30 UTC 2004 root@klaptopje.lan:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 My laptop is packard beel easynote+, latest bios is installed. Let me know if someone is interested in further investigating this, I am happy to help. Regards, Maarten
