MBR-7 support in -stable Reply-to: rich@lamprey.utmb.edu Sender: owner-current@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk |From: patl@asimov.volant.org |Date: Thu, 4 Apr 1996 08:09:27 -0800 | |[ I didn't receive any response to this question in either the ] |[ freebsd-stable or freebsd-questions list. Given the relatonship ] |[ between -current and -stable, I'm hoping that someone on this list ] |[ will have both the knowlege and the time to respond. ] | |I've recently upgraded from 2.05 to 2.1R and then -stable (through |CVS 0063). One of my reasons for doing so was to obtain support |for the MBR-7 CD-ROM changer. I noticed that it was mounting all |seven logical units during some of the intermediate states of my |upgrades; but don't seem to be recognized now. | |I have rebuilt my kernel with 'options "MAX_LUN=8"'; and I have |the appropriate /dev entries. But the boot probe doesn't find |the extra logical units and mount attempts claim that the units |aren't configured (which is expected, given that the probe didn't |find them...) I've included the first part of the boot log below, |with the timestamp and kernel ids trimmed off for readability. | |Is there anything else that I need to do to get this to work? |(Yes, I did try searching the mailing list archives; but didn't |find anything appropriate.) I just committed a change to /sys/scsi/scsiconf.c in -stable that puts an entry for the MBR-7 into knowndevs. This makes the driver recognize all 7 platters. As far as I know you don't need 'options "MAX_LUN=8"' or any other kernel changes. Rich
