Well, it's SNAP 960501, latest current say nothing like this, instead it 
says "failed to read eeprom" or something like that.

all network is "hubbed" by 3Com FMS II 24 Port hub with management module.
from its statistics there's nothing wrong with cabling/framing or anything.
port for this nic looks just fine.
it was slow since 2.1 stable and EISA 3Com 579 Ethernet.
and performance was always slow with these 2 nics - no more than 120k/sec.
sometimes as low as 30k.
also : this particular computer - neptune pci chipset with one 100Mhz 
pentium (of two possible) with APIC disabled, EISA/PCI with award bios.

i'd say we've achieved up to 860k/sec on dos computers with ipx using 
strictly 3com.
on the other hand another computer (tritonet pentium 90mhz with 3Com 509 
series - ISA) works just fine.
