You need to fix Netscape; it made a horrible attachment mess of your
message.  As a result Pine didn't quote your msg, so I hope you know what
I'm talking about here.

(re: can't mount root on sd1a)

Try typing `1:sd(0,a)/kernel' at the Boot: prompt and see what you get.
For some reason the system thinks it's hanging off of sd1 when it's really
on sd0.
