Subject:   how to execute rc.firewall?

1.  I'm not expert but it looks to me like rc.firewall is supposed to
    execute on startup?

2.  Why does rc.firewall look in /etc/default/rc.conf first for 
    variables?  At least that is the way it looks from reading
    it.
