Simply move or symlink /usr/local/jdk1.3.1/jre/lib/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so into /usr/X11R6/lib/mozilla/plugins/. There are some really confusing javascript install files in the plugin source directories that really have nothing to do with the new plugin.
