Copy the file /etc/ppp/ppp.linkup.sample to /etc/ppp/ppp.linkup.
That should help!  
BTW: Theres a lot of docs in the handbook
	 (/usr/share/doc/handbook/handbook.html) 
and the manual (enter "man ppp")
