Yes.

Yes.  At best ps and top will break occationaly.  Other things like mount
may also break is very messy ways (up to and including kernel panics.)
Much of this is fixed in -current, but not all of it by any means.

In general, don't update your source unless you plan to build and
install a new world and kernel.
