I had trouble with my Mitsumi IDE 16speed drive on 2.1.7.  I've installed
FreeBSD many times and thats the only time it gave me any trouble.  I've
long since moved to scsi, but I think that 2.1.7 at least, had some
problems with the higher speed ide cdroms that sacrificed some atapi
compliance for a little higher numbers (yea right, my 12x scsi is twice as
fast)
