I don't know if this is concidered a quirk :-)
In any case all I had to add is for the program to recognize my ipad (it seems 
to be
an ipad2+3g product id 0x12a2) but so far i can get it work only once:
connect, run ipad_charge
disconnect
connect
and now the device is no longer recognized
