I've built UP kernel and disabled APIC in /boot/loader.conf: hint.apic.0.disabled=1 Issuing zzz or acpiconf -s 3 causes the system to freeze. Only the lcd backlight is turned off - cpu fan, hard disk and led indicators are still working. Pressing power-off button or hitting random keys doesn't wake up the system. The only way is to hold power-off button for longer than 4 seconds and completely turn off the notebook.
