Sure, that would be great if you can send the setup over ... I actually
use kermit to dial and start ppp on the Annex Terminal server then
suspend kermit and kill kermit then:

bigbang# /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/cua00 115200

/etc/ppp/options contains:

bigbang# cat /etc/ppp/options
defaultroute
crtscts
netmask 255.255.255.0

bigbang#

Hmmm, here are my /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/host.conf files...
It works fine for slip and the link isn't down since it just doesn't
work for slip either if I did ppp first and then I need to reboot the
machine in order for slip to work again...

bigbang# cat /etc/resolv.conf
domain HIP.Berkeley.EDU
nameserver 128.32.136.9
nameserver 128.32.136.12

bigbang# cat /etc/host.conf
# $Id: host.conf,v 1.2 1993/11/07 01:02:57 wollman Exp $
# Default is to use the nameserver first
hosts
bind
# If that doesn't work, then try the /etc/hosts file
# hosts
# If you have YP/NIS configured, uncomment the next line
# nis
bigbang#
