I'd rather not make the scanner any more unprotable than it currently
is.  If Solaris lex cannot build the scanner, then that is a bug.

What attribute is that?  I don't recall any use of "__attribute__"
anywhere in the assembler.

BTW, the last commit to the assembler by its maintianer was less
than a week ago.  This probably means that it is maintained code.
Please contact the maintianer for future changes.
