Some people have only one directory and put _everything_ at that level (occasionally with thousands of files), others go hog-wild creating dozens of directory levels, half of which contain no files at all. My directory structure is far better organized than my apartment, but I don't know that there is anything about it that would be useful to others. I do try to keep temporary stuff separate from stuff I need to keep, and I try to keep software applications and system programs separate from data files, but that's about it. Since I usually work under one user account or root on my FreeBSD system, the home directories of these two accounts tend to carry most of the stuff I create personally. I don't like to create anything anywhere else lest it interfere with standard stuff. ----- Original Message ----- From: "J.S."
