An entry in UPDATING will probably be enough, IMHO. Something like:
"cached $SHORT_DESCRIPTION_OF_CACHED is now turned on by default.
To use it you need to update your /etc/nsswitch.conf . This can be
done with the following commands:
	# rm /etc/nsswitch.conf
	# /etc/rc.d/nsswitch restart 
"

Or something similar..
