I have the exact same problems with DEC Venturis 5133 16MB ram, but not
on a Venturis 5100 16MB ram.

Adaptec 2940 or 2940AU, with 1GB Seagate's gives me the 'read error' as
well.

In summary, after much, much, much dinging around, same machine and hard disk,
an Adaptec ISA 1542 will boot it but the Adaptec PCI 2940 will not.

Dig that!

I still have to set up the 5133 machine. I will try the DOS partion. Puke.
