However, 3.0R should not be used in a production environment as it is still in development. I recomend you install 2.2.7 first, and learn how to cvsup to -stable. The -stable line will transistion into 2.2.8 soon. 2.2.8 will be the last of the 2.x.x line but will be used for several years, due to it's stability. You may find that you don't really need SMP support, once you try 2.2.7. If you still want to use SMP, be aware that not all multiprocessor motherboards will work. See http://www.freebsd.org/~fsmp/SMP/SMP.html for more info. Also, be aware that the documentation is lacking for 3.0R. The docs for 2.2.7 are in pretty good shape.
